Our voluntary biodiversity credits (VBCs) enable individuals and organisations to fund the restoration and long-term stewardship of habitats at Boothby Wildland, supporting real and measurable Nature recovery.

Purchasing a voluntary biodiversity credit does not transfer ownership of land or biodiversity units.

Instead, your investment directly funds habitat restoration and long-term management at Boothby Wildland, creating measurable environmental benefits that are independently verified.  

Both voluntary carbon and voluntary biodiversity credits contribute to an organisation’s environmental goals, however, they have different use cases. 

• Carbon credits focus on reducing, avoiding or removing greenhouse gas emissions and are measured in tonnes of CO₂e.  

• Voluntary biodiversity credits focus on restoring and enhancing ecosystems, habitats and species. While nature restoration can contribute to carbon sequestration, VBCs are designed to support broader biodiversity and ecosystem outcomes rather than carbon alone.  

Revenue from voluntary biodiversity credits helps fund habitat creation, ecological monitoring and long-term stewardship activities across Boothby Wildland, including pond creation, grassland regeneration, scrub establishment, river restoration and biodiversity monitoring. The site is legally protected by some section 106 agreements and conservation covenants, ensuring that the impact will be delivered over a minimum duration of 30 years, in line with the Biodiversity Net Gain regulation.

No. You can purchase as few as one credit or buy multiple credits to scale your impact. Larger purchases enable you to support a greater area of habitat restoration at Boothby Wildland. You can track your impact and manage your portfolio through your Earthly customer portal, returning to purchase more if needed in the future. 

We encourage supporters to visit and experience the restoration journey first hand. You can do this in several ways: 

• Explore the site independently via more than 20km of public rights of way, which are accessible year-round. 

• Join one of our guided Wildland tours and experiences, including beaver enclosure tours and bird ringing demonstrations, which can be booked through our website.

• Visit as part of a group, through team away days, corporate volunteering days or other organised activities that provide hands-on involvement in the restoration of Boothby Wildland.

Please note that the specific what3words locations associated with Earthly voluntary biodiversity credits are not generally accessible to the public, as some restoration areas are deliberately protected to minimise disturbance to wildlife. However, for larger supporters or organised groups, we may be able to arrange specialist site visits to relevant restoration areas.  

Yes. VBC purchasers receive transparent impact information through the Earthly platform that can support sustainability reporting and nature-related disclosures. The credits can help organisations demonstrate action in support of frameworks such as TNFD, SBTN and B Corp commitments, although purchasing credits alone does not constitute compliance with any specific framework or standard. 

Keystone 3.0 is Earthly's independent project assessment and verification framework. It evaluates Nature projects across 160 environmental and social indicators, including biodiversity, carbon, water and community outcomes. Boothby Wildland received a score of 8.2/10, making it one of the highest-scoring biodiversity credit projects on Earthly's platform. Our community score of 8.2 is the highest people score across the whole Earthly portfolio. 

Nature recovery is influenced by ecological processes and external factors, such as climate change, so we do not target any specific biodiversity outcomes. Instead, we aim to create biodiverse, resilient landscapes.  

However, Boothby Wildland is legally secured for Nature restoration for at least 30 years through a Section 106 agreement, in line with the Biodiversity Net Gain requirements, and progress is monitored through ecological surveys and independent verification to provide confidence that long-term benefits are being delivered.
