Discover the new Scouts Nature Badge

We’re excited to be partnering with the Scouts to help young people get closer to Nature, learn new skills and enjoy the outdoors in a hands-on, meaningful way.

The refreshed Scouts Nature Badge is designed to help and encourage Cubs, Scouts and Explorers to identify wildlife, explore local green spaces, notice seasonal changes and learn how to care for Nature.

Together, we’re planning new activities that will make earning the badge fun, practical and full of real-world experiences.

The physical badge will be available from May 2026, with full details to be shared shortly. In the meantime, read on to discover exciting wildland opportunities for Scouts groups and their families.

Experience Nature Restoration in Action

Nattergal are Nature restoration experts, following the latest science to turn degraded land into biodiversity hotspots at landscape-scale.

As part of the Scouts partnership, young people can join special days out at Nattergal’s Wildlands, which currently include:

Harold’s Park, Essex
Regal history, ancient woodland and wildlife-rich meadows.

Boothby, Lincolnshire
Open landscapes, river valleys, beavers and lots of space to explore.

High Fen, Norfolk
Wetlands, big skies and some of the rarest species in the region.

During these visits, Scouts can take part in guided walks, wildlife-spotting challenges, hands-on conservation activities and behind-the-scenes looks at how large-scale Nature recovery works.

It’s a chance to experience real restoration in action and bring the badge to life.

Whether you’re a young person working towards your badge or a Scouts family or leader looking for inspiring outdoor activities, this page will help you find upcoming events and learning opportunities across our Wildlands.

Beavers reintroduced at Boothby Wildland

In February 2026, after years of planning and preparation, we released a family of beavers into a whopping 200ha enclosure at Boothby Wildland.

Beavers are amazing ecosystem engineers, quicky creating dams that slow the flow of water, creating biodiverse wetland habitats. These not only encourage a wealth of new wildlife, but also provide vital benefits for local communities, such as the alleviation of downstream flooding.

Beaver Enclosure Tours are available to book now - with a 20% discount for Scouts and their families.

“While being outside is second nature to a Scout, this collaboration adds a vital new dimension to their experience. Nattergal’s expertise provides a 'behind-the-scenes' look at conservation that goes far beyond a typical hike. We are giving them a deeper understanding of biodiversity today so that they can enter adulthood as informed, environmentally-conscious members of society ready to take on the challenges of the future.”
