What is the Local Nature Recovery Strategy? 

The Greater Lincolnshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy sets out a long-term plan to help restore Nature across Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire and Northeast Lincolnshire. 

Created through the Environment Act 2021 and developed by Lincolnshire County Council alongside local authorities, conservation organisations and Natural England, the strategy identifies where coordinated action can achieve the greatest impact for biodiversity, habitat connectivity, water quality and climate resilience. 

The ambition is to create a bigger, better and more connected network of habitats that enables wildlife to thrive and landscapes to become more resilient in the face of environmental change.

Riparian habitats are being established along the West Glen to help reduce nutrient and sediment runoff, supporting healthier waterways. 

Reducing Flood Risk Naturally 

By reconnecting sections of the West Glen with its floodplain, Boothby is helping restore natural river processes and create new wetland habitats that can slow and store water during periods of heavy rainfall. 

Supporting Wildlife Movement 

New habitats are helping create buffers around existing Local Wildlife Sites and improve connections between important areas for Nature, making it easier for species to move through the landscape.
