Simplifying the Process
We’ll take you through the full DCO process ( (Development Consent Order) to ensure complete and accurate compliance.
Taking the Liability out of your hands
We take on the liability of creating BNG over 30 years, securing and delivering the BNG units on our land, so yours doesn't get tied up.
Unit Allocation & Reporting
We’ll advise on the most appropriate habitat units to meet your requirements cost-effectively, and provide flexible commercial terms to suit your needs.
Unit Selection & Cost Management
We’ll work directly with Natural England to allocate units to the development on the Biodiversity Gain Site Register - and we’ll provide robust data monitoring reports over the 30 year term.
Nattergal - perfectly positioned to support NSIPs
Through our own landscape-scale restoration sites, we offer the volume and diverse mix of BNG units that NSIPs require. We already have 2,700 medium, high and very high distinctiveness units registered with more to follow, meaning you won't need to shop around to fulfil your habitat needs. We combine ecological ambition with long‑term security, and flexible contracting to support planning horizons.
Simplicity through Scale
Our team offers deep expertise in natural capital, ecology and long-term Nature restoration. Nattergal was founded specifically to restore degraded land at scale and is recognised for its collaboration with academic partners and scientific bodies to improve nature‑recovery science and practice.
Specialist Expertise
We collect extensive, long‑term datasets across our Wildlands to ensure integrity, auditability and confidence in the BNG units we deliver. From 2026 we will publish annual impact reports including ecological outcomes and social indicators to evidence progress over 30 years and beyond.

Reporting & Communications
Once units are allocated, you will receive periodic impact reports detailing ecological progress and social value delivered at the Wildland your units originate from - providing assurance that gains are delivered, evidenced and maintained for at least 30 years.
To support your reporting and communications, these updates will include sharable assets such as copy, images, videos and testimonials.
Neil Beamsley, Group Head of Biodiversity, Bellway Homes
“After an extensive design review, it became clear that achieving a 10% biodiversity gain onsite at our Harold’s Wood site near Romford wasn't feasible. We've therefore partnered with Nattergal to provide the necessary additional gains.
I’m delighted that we have been able to start our BNG delivery journey together with Nattergal. It’s been inspiring to see the diligence and integrity with which they approach their work.
In fact, our collaboration extends beyond BNG. They will also create a new habitat for a population of slow worms currently residing at Harold’s Wood, ensuring their safe relocation to facilitate development.”
